PRAYER ACCORDING TO THE POPES INTENTION
The Raccolta, ed. 1910, #23.
There are people who, today, have difficulties of praying for the Popes intentions - but - few knows of what the intentions actually are:
"The Pope’s intention always includes the following objects:
i. The progress of the Faith and triumph of the Church.
ii. Peace and union among Christian Princes and Rulers.
iii. The conversion of sinners.
iv. The uprooting of heresy.
These intentions may be fittingly recalled and prayed for after Communion, or at the visit;
but a general intention of praying according to the mind of the Pope is sufficient ; and any prayers may be used which are not already of obligation, e.g., the Little Hours of a priests Office. (July 12, 1847; May 29, 1841.)"
"... Today is the day of the Supplication to Our Lady of Pompeii. Our Mother Mary always wants to walk with us, to be close to us, to help us with her intercession and her love.
So I would like to pray together with you. Let us pray together for this new mission, for the whole Church, for peace in the world, and let us ask for this special grace from Mary, our Mother.
The Supplica to Our Lady of Pompeii can be prayed twice a year (May 8, and the first Sunday in October), and it is often recited at noon - and on May 8, which was the second day of the Conclave, or the first full day. By noon, on May 8, it was black smoke.
Blessed Bartolo Longo (19th C.), who fostered this devotion, was dedicated also to St. Michael the Archangel. For this reason he wanted the Supplica to be said on the Feast of the Apparition of St. Michael which occurred in 490, on Mount Gargano.
The May 8, is the Feast of St. Michael on Mount Gargano.
Pope Leo XIII constructed the St. Michael prayer on September 25, 1888.
The month of May is dedicated to Our Lady.
May is a Rosary month.
Pope Francis requested on Sept 29, 2018, that the Rosary finishes with Sub tuum Praesidum and the St. Michael Archangel prayer.
